Shavon Williams: Probation Hold, DA’s Decision, and Jamal White

Shavon Williams is the 25-year-old Milwaukee mother of Jamal White, the 7-year-old boy abducted at gunpoint on July 11, 2025, in a botched robbery plan that targeted her. On October 1, 2025, the Milwaukee County District Attorney’s office announced it would not charge her in connection with the kidnapping, though she has remained in the Milwaukee County Jail since July 13 on an unrelated probation hold.1WISN. Why the Robbery Crew Targeted Her

According to the criminal complaint, the kidnapping grew out of a plan to rob Shavon Williams. A 14-year-old organized the scheme, recruiting 25-year-old Corey Williams as a getaway driver and 38-year-old Fabian Johnson as a second gunman. They chose her because they believed she was a drug dealer who “flaunted money.”2CBS 58. Complaint: Man Charged in Connection to Jamal White Kidnapping Planned to Rob His Mother

When the group arrived at the father’s home near 61st and Hustis Streets and did not find her there, the teenager suggested robbing the father instead. The father fled inside, and the suspects seized seven-year-old Jamal from the driveway, where he had been riding his bicycle.3Spectrum News 1 Wisconsin. Why Investigators Scrutinized Her

After Jamal was taken, the kidnappers shifted to a ransom scheme aimed at his mother. Fabian Johnson allegedly called Shavon Williams and demanded $100,000 in cash and jewelry for her son’s return.4WISN. Second Adult Charged in Kidnapping of 7-Year-Old Milwaukee Boy Court records indicate the suspects contacted her roughly 40 times between 7:33 p.m. on July 11 and 2:39 a.m. on July 12, using caller-ID-blocked numbers. They proposed meeting at a park to make the exchange, but she never showed up.5TMJ4. 14-Year-Old Allegedly Planned Robbery That Led to Kidnapping of Jamal White

Investigators later described her as “uncooperative.” In a search warrant affidavit, police wrote that she “repeatedly refused not only to provide a statement but also to disclose information regarding the kidnapping,” and said her conduct “impeded the investigation and slowed investigators efforts to quickly and safely locate and recover” her son.1WISN. Jamal himself added to the suspicion. He told investigators that on his first day in captivity he overheard his mother on the phone with one of the kidnappers, telling the man she would “pick [Jamal] up.”1WISN. The Probation Hold Keeping Her Jailed

Williams was taken into custody on July 13, 2025. She was not booked on any kidnapping-related offense. Instead, the Wisconsin Department of Corrections issued a warrant for a probation violation stemming from an unrelated prior case, and she has been held in the Milwaukee County Jail on that warrant ever since. The underlying conviction has not been publicly disclosed. The probation hold was triggered by her contact with police during the kidnapping investigation.1WISN. The DA’s Decision Not to Charge Her

On October 1, 2025, Milwaukee County Chief Deputy District Attorney Jeffrey Altenburg confirmed in an email that the office had finished its review of Shavon Williams and would not pursue charges. His statement was brief: “The investigation into Ms. Williams is now complete and we will not be issuing charges against her.” No further explanation was offered. Williams remained in custody on the unrelated probation violation, with her probation status under review.1WISN. DA: No Charges for Mom in Son’s Kidnapping

The decision closed the question of her criminal exposure in the kidnapping itself. It did not resolve the probation matter, which operates on a separate track within the state corrections system.

Where Jamal White Is Now

After his rescue, Jamal was placed in the care of Child Protective Services. CPS has declined to comment, and it is not publicly clear whether he has been reunited with family. His mother has been jailed since July 13, and his father’s home was the scene of the abduction.6WISN. New Video Shows Milwaukee Boy Abducted at Gunpoint, Found Safe
