Shereé Whitfield’s divorce settlement from former NFL offensive lineman Bob Whitfield, finalized in Fulton County Superior Court in October 2007, awarded her a $775,000 lump sum, more than $1.1 million in marital property, portions of three NFL retirement plans worth roughly $113,422 per year, and $2,142.87 per month in child support for the couple’s two children. No alimony was awarded. On paper the numbers were large. In practice, Bob’s financial collapse turned much of the judgment into years of collection fights.

The Alimony Appeal She Dropped
Shereé appealed the denial of alimony to the Georgia Supreme Court, with oral argument scheduled for January 2009.2Tampa Bay Times. Sheree Heads to Supreme Court By that summer she had abandoned it. On July 27, 2009, her attorney Michael Weinstock announced the voluntary dismissal, saying Bob had “squandered his fortune” and was effectively broke. Bob had not made a single child support payment in 15 months, and a contempt motion over the missed payments had already been denied on procedural grounds. Pursuing alimony from someone who couldn’t pay child support, Weinstock said, would be “frivolous.”3Atlanta Journal-Constitution. Real Housewives Sheree Dismisses Divorce Appeal
What She Actually Collected
The gap between the decree and the money opened quickly. Bob admitted in a Georgia family court hearing in October 2012 that he had missed 38 monthly payments, leaving him $81,000 behind on child support. His request to reduce the monthly obligation was denied.5TMZ. Bob Whitfield Real Housewives Atlanta Sheree Whitfield Child Support Settlement
The parties settled rather than litigate further. Bob agreed to pay $75,000 of the $81,000 owed by November 11, 2012, with no penalties for the missed payments. His monthly obligation was temporarily cut from $2,142 to $1,000 for 12 months before reverting to the original amount.5TMZ. The property division ran into its own obstruction. By late 2009, Bob still owed Shereé $350,000 from the marital property split and tried to sell PatchWerks to raise the money. Shereé had filed a writ of fieri facias against his property for the full $775,000 lump sum she was owed, which Bob’s attorneys argued was blocking the sale. Bob’s Bankruptcy and Its Effect on the Judgment
In July 2011, Bob filed for Chapter 13 bankruptcy. He reported monthly income just under $3,500 from disability payments against monthly expenses above $7,000. His scheduled debts included more than $414,000 in mortgage debt to Wells Fargo, nearly $50,000 in taxes, and over $142,000 in miscellaneous obligations ranging from cable bills to traffic tickets. He disputed roughly $38,700 in child support owed to Shereé. His listed assets still totaled about $1.08 million, dominated by an NFL retirement plan valued at $366,163 and an NFL profit-sharing account worth $292,251.9Radar Online. The Abuse Allegations Came Later
The physical and verbal abuse Shereé later described was not part of the divorce litigation. She first spoke publicly about it a decade after the decree, on a 2017 episode of The Real Housewives of Atlanta, calling the marriage “toxic” and describing “verbal and emotional” abuse along with “physical altercations.” She said she had kept the details private for 10 years to protect the children.10Bravo TV.
