Sutton Stracke Divorce Settlement: $300K/Month, Homes, Custody

Sutton Stracke’s divorce settlement from PIMCO executive Christian Stracke, finalized in December 2018, awarded her $300,000 per month in spousal support for the rest of her life, $50,000 per month in child support for their three children, two homes, more than $1.2 million in cash, and a share of the couple’s art, vehicles, and business holdings.¹² The judgment was executed on December 21, 2018, and formally entered by the Los Angeles County Superior Court on March 7, 2019.³

The Monthly Support Numbers

The centerpiece of the deal is lifetime spousal support of $300,000 per month. Payments continue until either party dies or Sutton remarries.¹

Christian was also ordered to pay $50,000 per month in child support for the couple’s three children — Porter, Philip, and James — and to fund a $3 million trust for them, with obligations to keep adding to it.²⁴ The child support has since ended because the children have aged out.⁵

Cash and Bank Accounts

Sutton received a lump sum of $1,235,000 in cash, a personal checking account holding $800,000, and a separate bank account with $86,000.² In exchange, she agreed to pay off outstanding credit card balances on Visa, American Express, Delta, and Barney’s accounts.¹

Christian kept several bank accounts totaling more than $1.4 million and half of a retirement account valued at over $500,000.²

The Real Estate

Sutton was awarded a six-bedroom, 6,627-square-foot mansion in Bel Air, California, along with two properties in Georgia.¹ The couple had purchased the Bel Air home in 2012 for $7 million; Sutton later listed it for $8.95 million.⁶

Christian kept an apartment in Venice, Italy.²

Vehicles, Art, and Personal Property

Sutton kept three vehicles: a Range Rover, a Cadillac, and a 2015 Chevy Suburban. She also received her jewelry, her couture and clothing, Andy Warhol’s “Flowers” prints, prints of Martha Graham, and all the furniture in the homes.¹

Christian kept his West African art collection, which included leather and dyed-cotton artisanal crafts, an old Mexican indigenous wooden sculpture, and three ritual masks. He also retained a 1991 Land Rover, a 2015 Vespa scooter, an Audi, his book collection, and a Wilshire Country Club membership.¹

The couple split their wine collection and their broader art collection, with a coin flip determining who picked first.¹

Business Interests and the Children’s Trust

Both parties were awarded interests in several businesses the couple held, including a minor league baseball team. Sutton later said she had not known about some of these holdings until the discovery phase of the divorce. On Watch What Happens Live, she told Andy Cohen: “It’s actually two minor league baseball teams. I knew we had a timber company. But I didn’t know all. There was like 10 things on there.”⁷

Christian retained a one-half interest in the couple’s various business holdings.² The $3 million trust for the children was funded with a mix of cash and business interests.¹

Custody of the Children

Sutton and Christian share joint legal and physical custody of their three children.⁸ She has since described the two of them as maintaining an “intertwined” co-parenting relationship, coordinating family vacations and considering a London flat to make visits to their father easier.⁹

What Sutton Still Receives Today

At the Season 15 Real Housewives of Beverly Hills reunion, Sutton confirmed she still collects the $300,000 monthly spousal support. “Well, I don’t get child support anymore,” she said. “But I get my spousal support.” Asked to characterize the deal, she answered: “I got half the assets.”⁵

Christian later petitioned the Catholic Church to annul the marriage, and the annulment was granted, with Sutton notified in May 2025.¹⁰ A Catholic annulment is a religious determination and carries no civil effect; Sutton confirmed at the reunion that it did not change her spousal support.¹¹ Sutton has not remarried, so the support provision remains in effect.¹²

Why the Settlement Was This Large

Sutton and Thibault Christian Stracke married on May 13, 2000, in New York, and Christian filed for divorce on September 22, 2016.⁴⁸ The parties disagreed on the exact date of separation, a distinction that matters in California because the date is used to calculate the length of a marriage and can affect whether it qualifies as long-term.² Either date put the marriage well beyond the ten-year threshold California treats as a marriage of long duration, which gives courts broad authority to order ongoing support pegged to the marital standard of living.¹³

The marital standard was high. Christian is President and Managing Director of PIMCO, based in the firm’s London office, and also serves as Global Head of Credit Research and Senior Portfolio Manager, sits on the Executive Committee, and oversees the firm’s international operations outside the Americas.¹⁴ His personal net worth has not been publicly disclosed, though SEC filings show disclosed holdings in PIMCO funds worth at least $6 million.¹⁵ Support amounts of this kind can be modified if circumstances change significantly, but absent such a change, Sutton’s award continues on the terms set in 2018.¹³
