T-Mobile Data Breach Settlement: Payouts, Unpaid Claims, and Scams

The T-Mobile data breach settlement is closed to new cash claims — that deadline passed on January 23, 2023 — and the settlement administrator has finished distributing payments. If you filed a valid claim and never received your money, you have until March 31, 2026, to contact the administrator for a reissue. Identity restoration services remain available to every eligible class member, whether or not you ever filed a cash claim.

Where the Settlement Stands Now

As of late May 2025, the settlement administrator reported that all court proceedings were complete and payment distribution had finished. Payments went out by check or digital deposit depending on what each claimant chose at filing.1T-Mobile Data Breach Settlement. T-Mobile Data Breach Settlement

The underlying case, In re: T-Mobile Customer Data Security Breach Litigation, resolved with a $350 million settlement fund covering cash payments, identity services, notice, and administrative costs. T-Mobile did not admit wrongdoing. New monetary claims are no longer accepted, and no future filing window is scheduled.

If You Filed a Claim but Never Got Paid

Contact the settlement administrator, Kroll Settlement Administration, by March 31, 2026, to request a reissue. The phone number is 1-833-512-2314, and the official site is t-mobilesettlement.com.1T-Mobile Data Breach Settlement. T-Mobile Data Breach Settlement

Starting in November 2025, the administrator began sending follow-up emails from noreply@digitaldisbursements.com to claimants whose electronic payments had failed, asking them to update their payment details. Those emails are legitimate. If you got one and haven’t responded, call the administrator as soon as possible so your reissue can be processed before the March 2026 cutoff.1T-Mobile Data Breach Settlement. Any funds left after all valid claims are paid will be redistributed to class members or directed as the court orders. None of it returns to T-Mobile.

Restoration Services Are Still Available

Restoration assistance is a separate benefit from the cash payments and identity defense enrollment. If you experience identity theft or fraud tied to the 2021 breach, you can still access help — even if you never filed a claim — through t-mobilesettlement.com or by calling 1-833-512-2314.1T-Mobile Data Breach Settlement. Claimants who selected the two years of identity defense services during filing received activation instructions from the administrator. Those services included TransUnion credit monitoring, a $1 million identity theft insurance policy, and access to fraud resolution specialists.

What the Settlement Paid

Claimants who filed by January 2023 chose one of two compensation tracks.

Flat Cash Payment

The default option was up to $25 with no documentation, or up to $100 for people who lived in California on August 1, 2021. Actual checks were often smaller because the fund was divided pro rata among valid claims, and priority went to those with documented losses.

Documented Losses

Claimants who could show unreimbursed expenses tied to the breach could recover up to $25,000 per person. Qualifying costs included credit monitoring already purchased, professional fees for identity theft remediation, and direct fraud losses. Time spent dealing with the aftermath was reimbursed at $25 per hour for up to 15 hours, or at a higher actual wage with a pay stub. Bank statements, credit card statements, and receipts were the accepted proof.

Are These Payments Taxable?

Cash payments from a data breach settlement are generally taxable income. The IRS only excludes settlement money that compensates for physical injury or physical sickness, and payments for compromised personal data fall outside that exclusion.2Internal Revenue Service. Tax Implications of Settlements and Judgments

Reimbursement for specific out-of-pocket fraud losses may offset deductible expenses you already claimed, but the flat payment and lost-time compensation are hard to characterize as anything other than income. If you received a check, watch for a 1099 from the administrator and consider asking a tax professional how to report it.

Scams Targeting Former Claimants

Kroll Settlement Administration is the only legitimate administrator for this case, and t-mobilesettlement.com is the only court-authorized website.1T-Mobile Data Breach Settlement. T-Mobile Data Breach Settlement A few warning signs:

  • Any request for a fee to release your check or activate services is fraudulent. The administrator does not charge claimants.
  • Any message claiming you can still file a new cash claim is a scam. The filing window closed in January 2023.
  • Pressure to hand over sensitive information through an unfamiliar link should send you back to the phone number above to verify before you respond.

The one legitimate outreach worth recognizing is the November 2025 email from noreply@digitaldisbursements.com about failed electronic payments. If you aren’t sure whether a message you received is real, call 1-833-512-2314 and confirm before sharing anything.
