TFG Holding’s Deceptive Practices: $4.8M Settlement and Refunds

The TFG Holding settlement is a roughly $4.8 million multistate agreement announced on October 23, 2025, resolving allegations that the parent company of JustFab, ShoeDazzle, and FabKids secretly enrolled shoppers in a $49.95-per-month “VIP Membership Program” and made it hard to cancel. A coalition of 33 state attorneys general and the District of Columbia negotiated the deal, which sends about $3.8 million in refunds to affected consumers, pays $1 million to participating states, and forces the company to rewrite its billing and cancellation practices.1Illinois Attorney General. What TFG Was Accused Of

Shoppers on JustFab, ShoeDazzle, and FabKids were offered steep discounts on shoes, clothing, and kids’ apparel. Completing a purchase enrolled them in the VIP Membership Program, which charged $49.95 every month unless the member logged in before the sixth of the month and either bought something or manually “skipped” that billing cycle. If they did neither, the $49.95 was charged and converted into a store credit.2Washington State Attorney General. A Familiar Pattern

This is not the company’s first settlement over subscription practices. In October 2014, then operating as JustFabulous Inc., it paid $1,875,000 to settle charges brought by the district attorneys of Santa Clara and Santa Cruz counties in California. Prosecutors alleged that JustFab.com, ShoeDazzle.com, FabKids.com, and Fabletics.com buried information about automatic $39.95 monthly subscription fees in fine print. The company was required to bring its sites into compliance by November 2014.12ABC7 News. Online Retailer Fined for Misleading Consumers

Consumer complaints continued long after that. As of mid-2026, the Better Business Bureau listed 442 complaints filed against JustFab over the preceding three years, with 306 closed in the most recent 12-month period. Common issues included difficulty canceling memberships, store credits that became unusable, and account lockouts while monthly charges kept processing.13BBB.
