The 2019 Jacksonville murder of 16-year-old Adrian “Lil Bibby” Gainer Jr. was solved when Jacksonville drill rapper Hakeem “Ksoo” Robinson was charged in 2021 and, on February 23, 2026, pleaded guilty to second-degree murder. How Gainer Was Killed
On the afternoon of February 25, 2019, Gainer had just gotten off a bus to visit a relative at the Hilltop Village Apartments on West 45th Street in Jacksonville’s Moncrief neighborhood. He was sitting in a gazebo with another person when the shooting started. Gainer tried to run and was hit multiple times with rifle fire. A witness account described in court records says he tried to shield his head with his hands before the gunman ran up and shot him at close range in the back of the head or neck.3Jacksonville.com. A neighbor told reporters the volume of gunfire was extraordinary. “It sounded like it was Iraq out here. Multiple guns,” the witness said.5News4Jax. In the immediate aftermath, Jacksonville police had no suspects and no description of the shooter.
How the Case Was Solved
The killing went unsolved for two years. In March 2021, the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office served an arrest warrant on Hakeem Robinson, a local rapper who performs as Ksoo. The warrant said Robinson and an uncharged accomplice targeted Gainer, who was “gunned down in front of witnesses.” Investigators wrote that Robinson posted photos and videos on social media afterward bragging about the killing.4News4Jax. The Plea and Sentence
Gainer’s case was delayed for years while prosecutors moved forward with a separate murder trial involving Robinson and multiple co-defendants: the January 15, 2020, killing of 23-year-old aspiring rapper Charles “Lil Buck” McCormick Jr. Robinson and his cousin Leroy “ATK Scotty” Whitaker Jr. went to trial in July 2025, were tried simultaneously with separate juries, and were convicted of first-degree murder. Four months later, on February 23, 2026, Robinson pleaded guilty to second-degree murder for Gainer’s death. The Rap Feud Behind the Killing
Gainer’s murder was one killing in a long-running feud between two Jacksonville groups: ATK, short for “Ace’s Top Killers” and associated with rapper Kenyata “Yungeen Ace” Bullard, and 6 Block, associated with the late rapper Charles “Julio Foolio” Jones.9Jacksonville.com. A widely cited trigger was a June 5, 2018, ambush on Town Center Parkway in which a car pulled alongside a vehicle carrying Yungeen Ace and three others and opened fire. Three people were killed: Trevon Bullard (Yungeen Ace’s 18-year-old brother), Royale D’Von Smith Jr., 18, and Jercoby Groover, 19. Yungeen Ace survived. The violence kept escalating. In January 2019, rapper Willie “Boss Goon” Addison was killed and five others were wounded after a rap event. Weeks later, Gainer was shot at Hilltop Village. In January 2020, McCormick was ambushed outside an Arlington strip mall in what investigators described as retaliation for a diss track disparaging Robinson’s half-brother.12News4Jax.
