Veradigm Data Settlement: Payouts, Exposure, and Check Deadline

The Veradigm data breach settlement is a $10.5 million class action resolution for roughly two million people whose personal and medical information was exposed in a December 2024 incident at healthcare technology company Veradigm, formerly known as Allscripts. The court granted final approval in early 2026, payments for approved claims were issued on June 12, 2026, and settlement checks must be cashed or deposited by September 10, 2026, or they become void.¹

What Class Members Could Claim

Eligible class members were those who received a notice from Veradigm indicating their personal information may have been affected by the breach.² Claimants could choose one or both cash options, along with medical data monitoring.

Reimbursement of up to $5,000 for documented out-of-pocket losses tied to the breach, such as identity theft or fraud costs. Supporting documentation like receipts, phone records, or email correspondence was required; a personal affidavit alone did not qualify.²
An alternate cash payment estimated at $50 for those without documented losses, with no documentation required.²
Two years of CyEx Medical Shield Complete, which includes credit file monitoring with one bureau, dark web scanning, security freeze assistance, $1,000,000 in identity theft insurance with no deductible, and access to fraud resolution agents.³

Both cash payments were subject to pro rata adjustment based on the volume of valid claims against the net fund. The fund also covers administration costs (estimated at $1.35 million and capped at $1.79 million), attorneys’ fees of up to one-third of the fund, and service awards of up to $2,500 for each class representative.⁴

The claim filing deadline was March 16, 2026, and the deadline to opt out or object was February 17, 2026.³ New claims are no longer being accepted.

Payments and the September 10, 2026 Check Deadline

Approved payments went out on June 12, 2026 after the final approval hearing held March 24, 2026 at the Everett McKinley Dirksen United States Courthouse in Chicago. Any check that has not been cashed or deposited by September 10, 2026 becomes void.¹ If you filed a claim and never received payment, or misplaced the check, contact the administrator before that date.

What Was Exposed

Around December 15, 2024, an unauthorized third party used stolen credentials, taken during a separate incident at a Veradigm customer, to access a Veradigm storage account.⁵⁶

The exposed data included names, contact details, dates of birth, health records such as diagnoses, medications, test results, and treatments, along with health insurance information, payment details, Social Security numbers, and driver’s license numbers.⁵⁶¹ Veradigm said the breach was limited to the storage account and that no other systems were affected.

The Case Behind the Settlement

The class action, Goodrum, et al. v. Veradigm, Inc., Case No. 1:25-cv-07062, was filed June 25, 2025 in the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Illinois before Judge John Robert Blakey.⁷ The lead plaintiffs are Tony Goodrum, Marty Wooley, Todd Clay, and Tanya Walker, represented by Gary Klinger of Milberg Coleman Bryson Phillips Grossman and Jeff Ostrow of Kopelowitz Ostrow.⁸

The parties first agreed to an $8,750,000 fund, which Judge Blakey preliminarily approved on September 25, 2025. He vacated that approval on October 14, 2025 after the parties proposed what he called “significant” amendments.⁷⁹⁴ Veradigm denied any wrongdoing as part of the settlement.¹
