Wes Watson Lawsuit: Gym Attack, Arrests, and Bond Revoked

The Wes Watson lawsuit is a civil case filed in Miami-Dade County by Hakeem Ibrahim, who says the fitness influencer and three other men beat him inside a Miami gym in December 2024. Ibrahim’s 57-page complaint, filed March 26, 2025, names Watson, gym co-owner Nicholas Dellis, and Elev8tion Fitness LLC as defendants. Watson has denied wrongdoing, and the case is now moving alongside two pending criminal matters that have landed him in jail with bond revoked.¹²

The Civil Complaint Against Watson and Elev8tion Fitness

Ibrahim’s lawsuit alleges that Watson lured him to Elev8tion Fitness under the pretense of a social media challenge and that a four-on-one assault followed, carried out by Watson, Dellis, and two unidentified men. The complaint alleges the attackers used a weightlifting belt and dumbbells, directed racial slurs and death threats at Ibrahim, and that a gym employee fist-bumped Watson afterward. It also alleges that Elev8tion’s ownership and staff knew of the violent tendencies of members involved and that the gym was used to “encourage, promote, and/or provoke” acts of violence with the public.¹²

Watson missed the initial deadline to respond, and the court entered a default judgment against him on June 4, 2025. That default was set aside, and Watson was given until June 6 to answer. His response denies wrongdoing and raises two defenses: that Ibrahim consented to physical contact by responding to an open social media challenge, and that Watson acted in self-defense and in defense of others. Watson has demanded a jury trial.¹

The dollar amount of damages Ibrahim is seeking has not been publicly reported.

What Surveillance Video Showed

The December 29, 2024 attack took place at 1625 N. Miami Avenue, near Wynwood. Surveillance footage from inside the gym went viral. It showed Ibrahim being kicked, dragged by the hair, and struck repeatedly while pinned to the ground. Ibrahim was described as swollen and bruised afterward, and separate reporting indicated he suffered a facial fracture, a concussion, and two black eyes.¹³

Criminal Charges From the Gym Attack

Watson was arrested on February 6, 2026, more than a year after the incident, and charged with aggravated battery and battery in Miami-Dade County. Prosecutors filed the charges on February 7. Miami police called Watson the “primary aggressor” in a “vicious and sustained physical attack.” Bond was set at $2,500, and a judge ordered him to stay away from Ibrahim. Both charges were pending as of mid-2026.³

Second Arrest and Bond Revoked

While free on bond in the Miami-Dade case, Watson was arrested again on March 17, 2026, in Hallandale Beach. According to the arrest report, Watson beat and restrained his girlfriend after becoming upset that she wore a low-cut shirt to a Miami Heat game, believing she was being disrespectful in part because he had paid for her breast implants, and accusing her of cheating.⁴

Police said Watson shook and struck the woman multiple times, applied pressure to her neck, threw her to the ground, dragged her by the hair, and slammed her head into a table. The report describes a cut on her face and bruises across her body. Investigators also said Watson threatened to kill her and her entire family, prevented her from leaving the house, had his assistant search her phone, and used a security guard to keep her detained.³

He was booked into the Broward County Main Jail on March 18, 2026, and charged with five felonies:

Robbery by sudden snatching
Felony battery
Aggravated assault with intent to commit a felony
False imprisonment
Hindering, delaying, or preventing communication to a law enforcement officer

Bond was set at $115,000. A Broward County judge ordered Watson to stay away from the victim and to avoid drugs, alcohol, and weapons.³

After the Broward arrest, a Miami-Dade judge revoked Watson’s bond in the gym assault case. Because the new arrest occurred while he was already free on bond, the court ordered him held until trial. Watson remained in custody with no reported plea deals or sentencing developments in either case. Across the two pending Florida criminal matters, he faces seven charges. No trial dates have been publicly reported.⁵¹

Who Wes Watson Is

Westley “Wes” Watson, 42, is a fitness influencer and former California state prison inmate. He has said he was released from prison in 2018 at age 35, and he built an Instagram following while still incarcerated by documenting his physical transformation. After his release he launched Watson Fit, a personal coaching business built around fitness and mindset content.⁶⁴

Watson has not commented publicly on either set of charges.¹
