What happened to Sara Ebersole remains unknown more than three years after the 26-year-old Florida mother vanished in the early morning hours of March 3, 2023. She was last verified in the company of Tyrone Morman, a Micanopy man who picked her up from a Reddick residence around 4 a.m. and whom the Marion County Sheriff’s Office publicly named as a person of interest one year later. No one has been charged in connection with her disappearance, and in November 2025 a detective signed a letter presuming her dead so her family could obtain a death certificate.1WCJB. The Night She Disappeared
On the evening of March 2, 2023, Ebersole texted her sister, Michele Tullis, that she was getting into a “random truck with some cowboys.” Around 10 p.m., surveillance cameras at a Circle K at U.S. Highway 441 and County Road 318 in Reddick recorded her leaving in a black pickup with two men.2Ocala Gazette. At 1:24 a.m., Robinson exchanged texts with 28-year-old Tyrone Morman. Morman drove to the residence in a blue 2017 Hyundai Sonata and left with Ebersole at roughly 4 a.m. Investigators later developed information that the two were seen together at an unidentified 24-hour convenience store in northwest Marion County during those early morning hours. After that sighting, nothing. The Sheriff’s Office says her “normal pattern of life ceased as of March 3, 2023,” with no financial activity, no social media use, and no contact with family or friends since.2Ocala Gazette. The Person of Interest
The Marion County Sheriff’s Office named Tyrone Morman a person of interest on March 3, 2024, the one-year anniversary of the disappearance. When first questioned, Morman told investigators he had been out of town and had no contact with Ebersole that night. Witnesses contradicted him.3NBC News. When Detective Ryan Stith asked for Morman’s cellphone, Morman said it was broken and had been thrown out. He still had it. Detectives obtained a search warrant and executed it on December 20, 2023. Digital evidence from the phone confirmed Morman left the Reddick residence with Ebersole around 4 a.m. on March 3.2Ocala Gazette. Where Is Sara Gail Ebersole? Missing, Not Homicide
Ebersole’s family obtained a death certificate in late 2025 based on a detective’s letter presuming her dead, but the Sheriff’s Office has not reclassified the investigation as a homicide. It remains an open missing persons case. Tullis has publicly questioned that gap, asking why the case is not being investigated as a homicide if authorities believe her sister is dead. The Sheriff’s Office says the investigation is ongoing and has noted that the volume of online attention has complicated its work.1WCJB. Sara Ebersole Missing Persons Case Gains Renewed Attention
