Ronnie Radke went to jail on June 16, 2008, when U.S. Marshals took him into custody for violating the terms of his probation. The probation came from a 2006 Las Vegas fight that left an 18-year-old dead. He was sent to High Desert State Prison in Nevada, served roughly two and a half years, and was released in December 2010.1The Music. Ronnie Radke Released From Prison
The 2006 Fight That Started It
In May 2006, a brawl broke out in a desert lot near Shadow Ridge High School in Las Vegas. Radke was there with his friends Chase Rader and Maxwell Greene; on the other side were brothers Michael and Marcel Colquitt. Radke later said the Colquitt brothers had harassed and threatened him and Greene. During the fight, Chase Rader fired a gun, killing 18-year-old Michael Cook and injuring Michael Colquitt.2Las Vegas Weekly. Dealing His Own Fate

What the Imprisonment Cost Him
The prison time ended Radke’s run as frontman of Escape the Fate. The band removed him in 2008 after the probation violation sent him away, and Craig Mabbitt stepped in.8Billboard. While locked up, he began building the band that became Falling in Reverse. Without instruments, he wrote songs by singing guitar lines and patting out drum rhythms on his knees. After release, he went straight into the studio with producer Michael “Elvis” Baskette and recorded the debut album, “The Drug in Me Is You,” in about a month.7Blunt Mag. How the Record Still Follows Him
The 2008 to 2010 sentence continues to shape Radke’s professional life. In December 2024, the U.K. Home Office denied his visa application for a planned Falling in Reverse tour, pointing to the country’s policy of refusing entry to applicants who have served more than 12 months in prison.11Billboard. Radke has had several run-ins with the legal system since his release, including a 2012 arrest after a microphone-stand incident at a New Jersey show, a 2012 domestic violence arrest that ended with a no-contest plea to disturbing the peace, and a defamation lawsuit he filed and lost against music critic Anthony Fantano in 2025. None of those matters resulted in further prison time. The 2008 Nevada sentence remains the only period Radke has served behind bars.
