There is no set payout date for the AT&T class action lawsuit. The $177 million settlement resolving the two 2024 data breaches is still waiting on final approval from Judge Ada Brown of the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Texas, who held the final approval hearing on January 15, 2026. Why No Payment Date Has Been Set
Three things have to happen, in order, before checks go out. The court has to grant final approval. The window for appeals has to close. And Kroll Settlement Administration has to finish reviewing every claim. The first step is still pending. Kroll has said it does not know how long the court will take.1Telecom Data Settlement. Even once approval comes down, the payment clock does not start immediately. Under the settlement agreement, the “Effective Date” is 10 days after the appeal window closes with no appeals filed. If someone appeals, it shifts to 30 days after the appellate ruling or dismissal. AT&T then has 15 days from the Effective Date to fund the balance of the settlement.2CCH Business. Even in the best case, with no appeals, that puts payouts months past whenever the judge rules.
How Much You Could Receive
The $177 million fund is split into two pools: $149 million for the first breach class and $28 million for the second.3ABC7. Claimants without documented losses opted instead for a tiered flat payment, paid pro rata from whatever remains in the fund after administrative costs, attorney fees, and service awards are deducted. For the first breach, Tier 1 applies to people whose Social Security numbers were exposed and pays five times the Tier 2 amount; Tier 2 covers everyone else in that breach class. About 4.38 million people filed by the December 18, 2025 deadline, out of roughly 100 million eligible customers — a claims rate of 4.8 percent.4Yahoo Finance. Which Breach Your Claim Falls Under
The settlement covers two separate incidents, and the pool you’re paid from depends on which one affected you. The first involved a data set posted to the dark web in mid-March 2024 and confirmed by AT&T on March 30, 2024. It contained personal information for about 73 million people — 7.6 million current customers and 65.4 million former account holders — including Social Security numbers, dates of birth, email addresses, and account passcodes. The second breach involved call and text metadata — phone numbers, interaction counts, and aggregate call durations — for nearly all AT&T wireless customers, taken through the third-party cloud platform Snowflake. The stolen records mostly covered May through October 2022. AT&T learned of it on April 19, 2024, and disclosed it publicly on July 12, 2024, after the Department of Justice twice authorized a delay citing national security concerns.12Newsweek. Two unrelated AT&T matters sometimes surface when people search for payout information. One is an older class action over sales tax on mobile data services from 2005 to 2010, resolved through a separate settlement site at attmsettlement.com.13ATTM Settlement.
