When Will the AT&T Settlement Be Paid Out?

The AT&T settlement has not been paid out, and as of mid-2026 there is no firm date for when it will be. The $177 million deal still needs final approval from Judge Ada E. Brown of the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Texas, who held a six-hour final approval hearing on January 15, 2026, and has not yet ruled.1Telecomdatasettlement.com. What Has To Happen Before Checks Go Out

Three things stand between the current limbo and a payment reaching your mailbox or account.

The court has to grant final approval. The January 15 hearing is over, but Judge Brown is still deliberating and the court has given no public estimate of when a ruling will come.1Telecomdatasettlement.com. AT&T Data Incident Settlement

The appeal window has to close. Under the settlement agreement, the “Effective Date” that triggers payment starts ten days after the time to appeal runs out. If someone appeals, the clock resets to thirty days after the last appellate court affirms the approval or dismisses the challenge.2Business.cch.com. AT&T Data Breach Settlement Agreement

The settlement administrator has to finish reviewing claims. Kroll Settlement Administration LLC is working through roughly 4.38 million claims submitted by the December 18, 2025, deadline.3New Haven Register. AT&T Data Breach Settlement Attorney Fees

Once the Effective Date arrives, AT&T has fifteen days to fund the remaining balance.2Business.cch.com. What Could Push the Date Further Out

More than a dozen class members filed formal objections in the weeks before the January hearing, raising concerns about the settlement’s terms, the opt-out policy, and the attorneys’ fee request.4CourtListener. The fee fight is the loudest piece of this. Plaintiffs’ attorneys are asking for $59 million, roughly one-third of the fund. The Lanier Law Firm is seeking $49.67 million plus about $565,000 in costs; the team led by Jeff Ostrow of Kopelowitz Ostrow Ferguson Weiselberg Gilbert is seeking $9.33 million plus about $231,000 in costs.5Greenwich Time. How Much To Expect When Payments Do Arrive

The $177 million is split into two non-reversionary funds: $149 million for the March 2024 breach and $28 million for the July 2024 breach.2Business.cch.com. AT&T Data Breach Settlement Agreement A single claimant affected by both breaches can collect a maximum of $7,500, but plaintiffs’ attorneys have already acknowledged that actual payouts will be significantly lower than the advertised maximums.3New Haven Register. The payment categories are:

  • Up to $5,000 for documented financial losses traceable to the March breach and occurring after 2019.
  • Up to $2,500 for documented financial losses from the July breach occurring on or after April 14, 2024.
  • A Tier 1 pro rata cash payment for March-breach claimants whose Social Security numbers were exposed, set at five times the Tier 2 amount.
  • A Tier 2 pro rata cash payment for March-breach claimants whose other personal data, but not Social Security numbers, was exposed.
  • A Tier 3 pro rata share of the net July fund, available as an alternative to a documented loss claim.7Clarion-Ledger. How Much Money Can You Get From the AT&T Settlement
