Why the Sentence Is Only 25 Years
Wright admitted to bludgeoning Dr. Sievers inside her home on June 28, 2015, striking her 17 times with a hammer alongside co-defendant Jimmy Ray Rodgers.3CBS News. His Testimony Is Now Under Attack
Both convicted men are challenging the outcomes, and Wright’s credibility is the target. In October 2025, Lee Circuit Judge Bruce Kyle held an evidentiary hearing on Mark Sievers’ claim of ineffective trial counsel. Rodgers testified at that hearing that Sievers was innocent and that Wright was the true mastermind who initiated the attack without telling Rodgers why they had driven to Florida.9News-Press. The Missouri Case That Still Follows Him
Wright has been named a person of interest in the 1996 disappearance of Ronnie Bolin in Jefferson County, Missouri. Bolin vanished on July 9, 1996, and his body was never found. His brother told investigators that Ronnie and Wright had been using methamphetamine together and that Ronnie, days before disappearing, said he planned to confront Wright about an unpaid debt and added, “if anything happened to him, Wayne did it.”13Naples Daily News.
