Jon Grissom is a former bit-part actor and onetime personal assistant to Corey Feldman who Feldman publicly named in 2017 as one of the men who sexually abused him as a teenager. Grissom was separately convicted of child molestation in 2003 in an unrelated case, served prison time, and has since been considered a fugitive for failing to register as a sex offender under California’s Megan’s Law.
How He Knew Corey Feldman
In late 1986 or early 1987, Feldman’s father hired Grissom to work at his acting workshop and management company. Grissom also worked as a personal assistant to Feldman, who was around 15 at the time. Feldman has said the two grew close quickly and that the relationship soon involved drugs, with Grissom supplying him with pills and taking him out to use cocaine multiple times a week.1Newsweek. What Feldman Has Alleged
Feldman has alleged that Grissom sexually molested him during the late 1980s. In his 2013 memoir, Coreyography, Feldman wrote about the abuse in detail but called the abuser “Ron Crimson,” a pseudonym his lawyers required for legal reasons.3Vanity Fair. Grissom has never made any public statement responding to Feldman’s allegations.
Being Named on The Dr. Oz Show
In November 2017, Feldman appeared on The Dr. Oz Show and identified Grissom by name for the first time. When Dr. Mehmet Oz displayed a photograph, Feldman confirmed it, saying, “That’s the guy.”5Variety. Why the LAPD Dropped the Case
The LAPD’s robbery-homicide division, which handles sex crimes, opened an investigation after Feldman filed his report. Three days later, on November 9, 2017, the department announced it was closing the case. Spokesperson Drake Madison told reporters, “It’s done.”6Rolling Stone. The LAPD cited the expiration of the statute of limitations under California law, saying that “robbery-homicide detectives have no other avenues to pursue this case.” The department noted that an out-of-statute report could still be used to help establish a pattern of behavior in any current or future case against the accused.7CBS News Los Angeles. After his release, Grissom failed to register as a sex offender as required under California’s Megan’s Law. Legal counsel for The Dr. Oz Show told viewers during the 2017 broadcast that he was considered a “fugitive from justice” because of that failure.5Variety.
