Philadelphia rapper YBC Dul, whose legal name was Abdul Vicks, was killed in an August 2024 drive-by shooting that prosecutors have attributed to four people connected to a rival Olney street group called Fastbreak: 16-year-old Aiden Waters, 18-year-old Rashawn Williams, 19-year-old Naier Briscoe, and Waters’ mother, 39-year-old Latoya Donaldson, who is accused of supplying the rifle. District Attorney Larry Krasner has described the killing as part of a gang feud, with Vicks targeted because he was the public face of the West Philadelphia-based Young Bag Chasers.
How the Shooting Happened
Vicks was 25 years old and sitting in a parked car near the 5500 block of North Fairhill Street in the Olney section of Philadelphia on the afternoon of August 23, 2024, when a second vehicle pulled alongside him.1PhillyVoice. The Four People Charged
Charges came in over roughly four months, beginning with the alleged shooter and expanding to accomplices and the person accused of supplying the weapon.
Aiden Waters, 16
Waters was charged with murder on September 6, 2024, about two weeks after the shooting. Investigators traced an abandoned, burned-out car used in the drive-by to his home, where a search warrant produced fingerprint and ballistics evidence tying him to the killing, along with several firearms. Rashawn Williams, 18

Naier Briscoe, 19

Latoya Donaldson, 39

How Investigators Built the Case
Detectives combined ballistic evidence and fingerprints from the getaway car with witness interviews, social media posts, surveillance footage, and recorded jail calls.5The Philadelphia Inquirer. Why Vicks Was Targeted
Prosecutors have described the killing as gang-related, alleging Vicks was singled out because of his prominence as a rapper and his role as the public face of YBC.5The Philadelphia Inquirer. The timing of his death also drew attention. Less than a day before he was shot, a documentary-style interview with him by YouTuber Brandon Buckingham was released online.8PhillyVoice. Assistant District Attorney Anna Walters described the broader dynamic as a loop: a gang carries out a shooting, produces a video bragging about it, posts it to YouTube, and a rival watches and retaliates with a shooting and a video of its own.9CBS News Philadelphia. Who Aiden Waters Is
The alleged shooter is not accused only of killing Vicks. A grand jury investigation found that Waters was involved in at least five shootings during 2024, resulting in four homicides.11The Philadelphia Inquirer. - Kevin Williams, 43, shot on January 24, 2024, on the 5100 block of Hutchinson Street. Prosecutors said Williams was an innocent bystander struck by a stray bullet while Waters and others were targeting rival gang members.
- Kristofer Dowling, 20, killed on February 15, 2024, on the 5800 block of Rising Sun Avenue. Dowling was also described as a bystander, hit during a shooting aimed at a member of a Lawncrest crew. The same firearm was used in both the Williams and Dowling killings.

Investigators tied Waters to those crimes with cell phone location data, text messages, ballistic evidence, and social media activity. In one instance, prosecutors said Waters messaged a friend 30 minutes after the Dowling shooting to say he had done a “drill,” slang for a shooting.11The Philadelphia Inquirer. A co-defendant on the Williams and Dowling killings, 19-year-old Ahnile Buggs, pleaded guilty to both homicides and to a March 2024 shooting at a Northeast Philadelphia bus stop that injured eight high schoolers.
